Discussing My Son's History with Sorbitol Intolerance
While navigating my eldest son's difficulty with peach baby food ("difficulty" is putting it nicely, he would projectile vomit his entire stomach contents) and how it effects his little brother. I slowly discovered that he was reacting the same way with other foods as well. Check out the video above for the story in more detail. Here's a summary. It took some digging and I don't remember exactly how I came across this, but I finally made the connection that the foods he was reacting to were all high in Sorbitol. Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol found in stone fruits and a few other things including peaches, pears, apples, apricots, plums, and prunes. A Sorbitol Intolerance can cause bloating, cramps, diarrhea, and/or nausea.
